Baptism & membership
We take membership seriously. Committing yourself to a body of believers is weighty. And it’s also wonderful.
When people join, they commit to a spiritual family so love, encouragement and support can flourish. Membership is a Biblical call to faithfulness, service and sacrificial service of their brothers and sisters, the community and even the world.
Baptism is intended only for those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ and can give sufficient testimony to the basics of Christian beliefs. We baptize by immersion because it is not only the original significance of the word but also best symbolizes the reality to which baptism points - our death and resurrection in Christ.
If you have not been baptized following salvation, we ask you to take this step before becoming a CrossPoint member.
"Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life."
At CrossPoint, we believe that membership is an important way to affirm our allegiance both to Jesus Christ and to one another. It's how we express our desire and commitment to join Jesus and each other on His mission! Membership is Biblical. The Bible talks about being all in together on mission with Jesus. The church is described as a body with many members. Each member has its own function or job but they work together for one purpose and that is to be a disciple-making disciple. "For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ." 1 Corinthians 12:12
