Youth Pastor

Matthew Burkholder

Matt grew up going to CrossPoint (back in the blue chair days) with his family as far back as he can remember. He attended both junior high and high school ministries, where God eventually got a hold of his heart and he decided to put his faith in Christ. While attending Grand Canyon University, he served at a local church, Bethany Bible, where he volunteered in the junior high ministry. Matt has always considered CrossPoint to be home, and he’s excited now to be working at CrossPoint within the student ministry.

Matt attended Liberty University for his first 2 years of undergrad where he took a plethora of Bible courses. He then transferred to Grand Canyon University for his final 2 years and graduated in April 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology.

He is the proud son of amazing parents, Kevin and Karen Burkholder. He is also the older brother of two younger sisters, Kylie and Hannah, and he considers himself the protective type.

As student pastor, his responsibilities include frequently teaching in the student ministries as well as some of the administrative work and event planning that go on behind the scenes. Being a new hire, he is still getting acclimated to the job and is ready to take on whatever task a given day may bring.

His favorite verse is Psalm 16:11, “You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Matt likes to consider himself a coffee connoisseur, and therefore always enjoys a good cup of jo. He loves everything baseball, whether it involves watching or playing. In his spare time, he likes to play strategic board games and also enjoys doing things outdoors. He enjoys reading books that center around Christian living, theology, and/or philosophy. Currently, he is reading the complete collection of C.S. Lewis’s signature works.
