TOWARD THE CROSS

In the next section of Luke's gospel the entire world conspires against Jesus: Who is He? What has He done? Who will believe Him? All these questions are hurled at Jesus. His answers put His identity, authority and His LOVE beyond doubt!

Pressure

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, March 21, 2021

THE APOSTLE PETER IS CRACKING UNDER PRESSURE

This Sunday we will watch a slowly unfolding tragedy in the last hours Jesus had with His disciples. At the heart of the events is a lesson that every Christian struggles to learn. Some never do. Read Luke 22 carefully once more and come ready to worship at 9:00 or 10:30a.

What's In It For Us?

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, March 14, 2021

AN ARGUMENT AT THE LAST SUPPER

In Luke 22, the Bible tells us that the disciples argued at the Last Supper. How Jesus responded is the most countercultural, hard to believe, and important truth you may ever hear if you want your life to count here and in eternity. Read Luke 22 again and ponder the argument. Then join us in person or online this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30 AM.

The Lord's Supper

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, March 7, 2021

THE LORD'S SUPPER IS RICH IN MEANING

We've been following Jesus through the gospel of Luke for a long time. Now He is approaching the cross, and before dying He invited His disciples to a Passover meal. What He taught them there connects the Bible from the second book (Exodus) to the last (Revelation.) If we can see the lessons of the Last Supper to heart, it will change how we take it together. It will also comfort our hearts in times of suffering.

What Jesus Told Us To Do In The Last Days

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, February 28, 2021

Jesus told us exactly what to do in the last days!

Our lives will be better and, more importantly, He will be pleased if we do what He says. Read Luke 21 slowly and come ready to worship this Sunday. Luke 21:5-38 is a prophetic teaching from Jesus with two distinct judgments in view. See if you can tell them apart in the passage!

What Jesus Said During the Offering

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, February 21, 2021

JESUS AT THE OFFERING BOX

We are approaching the end of the gospel of Luke and after condemning the predatory religious leaders that were attacking Him in the Temple, Jesus saw something that prompted one of the most poignant lessons in the New Testament.
If the disciples of Jesus will take Him at His word, it will change our behavior and attitude at a fundamental level. Read Luke 21 and I hope to see you on Sunday!

Resurrection? Really?

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, February 14, 2021

PUTTING JESUS ON THE SPOT AGAIN

In the next section of Luke 20, Jesus is cornered again - this time by the political elite. They have a hard question regarding the resurrection. His answer makes all the difference. Read Luke 20:27-47, and Sunday I will tell you how trusting Jesus with the future can make such a big difference to your life right now.

God vs. Government

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, February 7, 2021

GOD VS. GOVERNMENT?

Once again I am struck by the timeliness of the next passage in our journey through the Gospel of Luke.

In Luke chapter 20, men who hated Jesus tried to trap him with a question about politics. (!)

The wisdom of His answer silenced His critics then and can heal division now.

A Question of Authority

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, January 31, 2021

HARD QUESTIONS FOR JESUS

As we continue walking with Jesus through the Gospel of Luke, the religious authorities really pour on the pressure. Read Luke 20 and you’ll see what I mean. We could not have planned it this way, but what is coming up in the gospel of Luke could not be any more timely.

Our greatest need and the best gift we can offer the world is to be disciples of Jesus. The stakes could not be any higher. Let’s follow Jesus.

All Eyes on Jesus

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, January 24, 2021

ALL EYES ON JESUS

Sunday, we return to the gospel of Luke to see people thronging Jesus as He enters Jerusalem at last. All eyes are on Him and many personal agendas are represented in the crowd. What Jesus did could not be more timely or comforting. Read Luke 19 and join us online or in person this Sunday at 9:00a or 10:30a!

Return of the King

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, November 15, 2020

A PARABLE WITH A PUNCH

The first time I read Jesus' parable in Luke 19:11-27 carefully, it shocked me. But it could not be more timely! Read it prayerfully and come ready to hear from Jesus.

WALKING WITH JESUS

Jesus kept His loving attention on the unlovable all the way to the cross.

Can You See Him and Believe Him?

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, November 1, 2020

WALKING WITH JESUS IN THE GOSPEL OF LUKE

Read all of Luke 18 this week and get ready to sit beside the road to Jericho to hear a blind man call out to Jesus. This story has been SO helpful to me this week! Let's see if we can see what that man did this Sunday!

A Matter of Trust

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, October 25, 2020

WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Jesus had a heartbreaking conversation with a man who would probably be a celebrity today.  He had money and power but walked away from Jesus. The question he faced is VITAL for everyone who wants to follow Jesus. Read Luke 18 before Sunday!

Childlike

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, October 18, 2020

TRYING TO GET ON JESUS' SCHEDULE

On Sunday, we will watch the disciples try to protect the time and energy of Jesus. They made what they surely thought was a kind decision: some people just should not be on His schedule. What followed was a profound lesson in what it means to be a Christian.

Good Enough?

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, October 11, 2020

GOOD ENOUGH FOR GOD?

In one of the most striking parables Jesus ever told, Jesus upended the expectations of His audience. He does that, you know. This is a GREAT Sunday for friends and family to hear the gospel! If someone you care about is not entirely sure of their salvation, INVITE them. If you have already trusted Christ, the parable will be just as helpful. It unpacks the one thing needed to be pleasing to God.

Waiting Well

Pastor Jim Gane // Sunday, October 4, 2020

Jesus taught us about prayer - and He had a question, too. Sunday, we will keep walking with Jesus through the gospel of Luke. We've reached chapter 18, where Jesus taught us about prayer. If you've grown discouraged in your prayer, life, this will help!

Kingdom Come

Pastor Bruce Garner // Sunday, September 27, 2020

THE RETURN OF THE LORD
Back in March when the lockdown began, I quickly changed my preaching calendar in an effort to offer guidance and comfort from the Bible to our hurting families and congregation.

The passage I was scheduled to preach back then is Luke 17:20-37.  Take time to read it now, and you may see why I changed the plan and why it is so timely now.

There is too much bad news today to mention in a single email.
To make matters worse, there is so much misinformation circulating that many people have not heard the news; if they have, they may not believe it!

In all quarters, there is a heartbroken cry for justice.  Even so,  many people calling for justice disagree deeply on what justice means, who should have it, and who deserves it.
